Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed World War II veterans in a speech, saying that they ensured the existence of Israel: "You saved the Jewish people, and secured the Jewish future."
Speaking at a special Knesset plenum session marking 67 years since Nazi Germany was defeated, the prime minister announced that a monument is to be erected over the summer in honor of troops who served in the Red Army during World War II. "I am doing this as a token of appreciation," he said. (Ynet)
