Journalist-turned-politician Yair Lapid
on Thursday held his first public gathering since the national unity deal that stopped
the emerging election campaign.
Founder of Yesh Atid faction blasted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the coalition deal does not reflect any ideological agenda, but only serves political survival. According to Lapid, Netanyahu and Mofaz had many chances to pursue the issues of Tal Law and changing government system, but did not do so.

Lapid speculated that even if it will be politically possible, Netanyahu will not turn his back on the ultra-orthodox parties, and will continue support their interests no matter what.
When asked about his stand regarding renewed social protests, Lapid responded that he will be more useful in the political arena than in the streets. He added that last year's protest was more influential and organized than it is usually depicted, and it is his duty now to translate it into political achievements.
Meanwhile in Kadima, hundreds of registered have asked to withdraw their membership from the party following its recent acts.
On Wednesday, one of the party's founders Haim Ramon quit the party, followed by two senior members, play writer Anat Gov and Tel Aviv professor Yosi Shein.
