The police said Wednesday that they were able to match the evidence found at the scene of the brutal rape that took place at Tel Aviv's Gan Hair parking lot over the weekend, to the prime suspect's DNA.

The police plan to hold a lineup later Wednesday, to see if the two victims – an 18-year-old woman and her 17-year-old boyfriend – can identify the suspect as their assailant.
According to available details, the suspect followed the couple and then cornered them in the parking lot's bathroom, where he raped the woman while threatening the man and forcing him to watch the act.
- The police believe he also attempted to sexually assault the man.
The suspect denied the allegations against him, admitting only to robbing the two.
Earlier Wednesday, Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino spoke before a special hearing of the Knesset's Internal Affairs Committee on the recent surge in violent crimes in Israel.
Danino said the police were bolstering their presence on the ground, vowing that "The pubic can count on the Israel Police – we will do everything within our power to curb violence and restore the sense of safety."
