Bill proposes to set minimum age for marriage at 18

The Constitution, Law and Justice Committee has approved a bill proposing to set the minimum age for marriage at 18. The bill is now to be put up to a Knesset vote. If passed, the law would allow underage marriages only through a court order.

Knesset members Zahava Gal-On and Yariv Levin express support for the measure, while MK Nissim Zeev opposed it, claiming that the bill is anti-religious, coercive and outrageous. (Moran Azulay)
