NATO leaders gathering in Chicago are reasserting their commitment to end the unpopular Afghanistan war in 2014 and to prepare for another landmark next year, when Afghan forces take the lead in combat missions while the military alliance assumes a supporting role.
So far in the two-day NATO conference in President Barack Obama's hometown of Chicago, the leaders have voiced hope that a decade of war in Afghanistan will give way to a decade of transition to peace and stability, aided by the US and its allies. (AP)
