Kiryat Malachi city council to elect acting mayor

The Kiryat Malachi city council is scheduled to convene Tuesday evening to elect one of the city's deputy mayors – Alex Borochov or Haim Steiner – acting mayor in place of Moti Malka, who was recently arrested on suspicion of rape and accepting bribes.

Some 30 residents were demonstrating outside the city hall, calling for the entire council to resign and be replaced with a committee appointed by the Interior Ministry. (Neri Brenner)
