IDF officer, soldier lightly wounded from Gaza sniper fire

Palestinian terrorists open fire on troops operating on Israeli side of security fence; soldiers return fire

An officer and soldier from the Golani Brigade sustained light injuries Wednesday afternoon when Palestinian snipers in Gaza opened fire on them near the Kissufim border crossing, Ynet reported.

 

The officer and soldier were evacuated to the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba.

The IDF Spokesperson's Office said the IDF force was conducting routine activity near the security fence separating Israel from the Hamas-ruled territory.

 

IDF soldiers returned fire, and army forces were continuing to scour the area in search of the terrorists, said the Spokesperson's Office.

 

On Friday Palestinian terrorists opened fire on IDF soldiers operating in Israeli territory near the Gaza security fence. There were no injuries among the soldiers, who returned fire.

 

About 24 hours earlier the Ma'an news agency reported that seven Palestinians were injured from IDF artillery fire towards farmers near Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.

 

The news agency said that two of the victims sustained serious wounds and were evacuated to the Shifa Hospital in Gaza. The IDF said that troops had performed routine activity in the area and that it was not aware of any injuries on the Palestinian side.
