Israel Police's official Facebook page initially featured the video as well, but was later replaced by a statement calling on witnesses or anyone who recognized the egg thrower to come forward.

The police department also said in an official response that it is making attempts to determine the identity of the web user who uploaded the video.

Tension between residents of southern Tel Aviv and African asylum seekers has reached its peak in recent days; on Wednesday, a rally held by the residents quickly turned violent, with anti-government slogans quickly giving way for racism and incitement.

Twelve people were arrested for rioting and looting migrants' shops. Some of the demonstrators shattered the windshield of a vehicle which carried three African migrants.

Also last week, the police arrested an adult and several teens who are suspected of seeking out migrants who were alone and beating them up. Some of the minors admitted to being involved in at least five such incidents.
