Greek man convicted in Israel of murder wants money back

None

A Greek man convicted of murder in Israel and sentenced to 30 years has petitioned a Petah Tikva court to return him NIS 750,000 he deposited as a guarantee he would return to prison from furloughs.

After serving 15 years of his sentence, the man was extradited to Greece, where he is serving out his sentence. He argued that since he has been in Greece, Israel has no need of a financial guarantee to ensure his return to prison. (Raanan Ben-Zur)
