Shas to support settlement legalization

Shas Chairman Eli Yishai said during a faction meeting that the party will support the settlement regulation bill, which proposes to legalize homes built on contested land in the West Bank. Yishai said that the decision made following a consultation with Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.

Meanwhile, Kadima Chairman Shaul Mofaz spoke against the legislation, which aims to circumvent a High Court ruling on the matter. Mofaz postulated that the Coalition will oppose the bill when it is discussed at the Knesset on Wednesday. (Attila Somfalvi and Kobi Nahshoni)
