Palestinian suspected of attempted kidnapping of IDF soldier

A 32 year old Palestinian illegally staying in Israel has been indicted in the Beersheba District Court of conspiracy to abduct an IDF soldier together with three other Palestinian prisoners. The prisoners, currently inmates of the Shikma prison in Ashkelon, were protesting against the fact that they were not released in the Shalit deal.
According to the indictment, the prisoners who belong to the al-Aqsa brigades planned to abduct a soldier in January in order to bring about the release of more Palestinian prisoners, with one of them suggesting that a family member move the "project" forward. (Ilana Curiel)
