Abbas: PA to renew talks if Israel frees prisoners

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has stipulated that if Israel agrees to free Palestinian prisoners and allow the PA to import weapons for police use, he might agree to renew talks. He also called on the Jewish state to halt settlement construction.

Abbas, who made the remarks during a press conference in Paris, warned that if the negotiations fail to resume he will request to UN General Assembly to recognize the PA as a non-member state. (Elior Levy)
