Oil rises to near $83 ahead of OPEC policy meeting

Oil rose slightly to near $83 a barrel Thursday in Asia as OPEC heavyweights Saudi Arabia and Iran face off over the group's crude production policy.
Benchmark oil for July delivery was up 29 cents to $82.91 per barrel at midafternoon Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell 60 cents to settle at $82.62 in New York on Wednesday. (AP)
