At least 15,026 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Syria since the revolt against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad began in mid-March 2011, according to Syrian Observatory of Human Rights.
The rights group's tally included 10,480 civilians, 3,716 soldiers and 830 deserters were killed in the fighting and repression. The group counts as "civilians" armed rebels, but not former soldiers. (AFP)
