Judge Lt. Col. Maya Goldschmidt ordered the defendant to return the money and stated that stealing from an infiltrator who crossed the border is particularly serious crime.
The defendant was on reserve duty on the Egyptian border when a group of infiltrators entered Israel. He asked the Turkish infiltrator for his money and when the latter refused, proceeded to steal the sum.
The soldier served as the battalion commander's driver and was convicted of theft and conduct unbecoming. Judge Goldschmidt decided not to sentence him to time in prison having taken into account his personal circumstances.
