2 rockets hit western Negev

Fragile lull shaken as Qassam rockets explode in open areas in Eshkol. No injuries reported

Two Qassam rockets fired from northern Gaza Friday exploded in open areas in the Eshkol Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.

 

Earlier, the remnants of a Grad rocket fired from the Strip were found near the Be'er Tuvia Regional Council. IDF sappers disposed of the rocket safely.

On Thursday, the Iron Dome defense system intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza at Israel's south. Several other rockets exploded in open areas in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.

 

The current round of violence began on Monday, when terrorists killed a civilian working on the Israel-Egypt birder fence. Nearly three days of incessant rocket fire from the Strip followed, as Gaza terrorist fired over 100 Qassams and mortar shells at western Negev communities.

 

The IDF struck several Gaza targets in response.

 

On Wednesday, Hamas announced that the Gaza groups were willing to hold their fire – as long as Israel suspends its strikes on the Strip.

 

The announcement followed Egyptian efforts to broker a ceasefire.
