Ten people were lightly injured when a train collided into a bus near Nitzanim Junction Friday afternoon. Seven people were evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon and the rest received medical treatment on the scene.
According to initial reports, the bus was hit by the train in its rear part, causing it to flip on its side. Eyewitnesses reported that they did not notice any malfunction in the train barriers, which were lowered at the time. It is still unclear how the bus crossed the barriers onto the tracks.

The 100 passengers who were onboard the train were transferred to an alternate train.
"We saw a shattered windshield; when we arrived they were evacuating the last casualty. The bus sustained heavy damage," said Hila Dafna from Nitzanim.
Magen David Adom Director General Eli Bin said "Fortunately, we avoided a big disaster. Magen David Adom deployed in force after receiving the initial call, but we soon found out that there was nothing much left to do."
