Bar Association: Police violated protesters' rights

None

The Bar Association's Criminal Forum slammed the police for the manner in which they arrested protesters in Tel Aviv on Saturday, claiming that the conduct "violates a basic constitutional right."

In a letter sent to Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino, Bar Association President Doron Barzilai cited activists who were detained as saying that they were not allowed to consult with an attorney. "I condemn the vandalism perpetrated by the protesters as well as the forcefulness practiced against them by the police," he said. "The freedoms of expression and protest are some of the most important human rights." (Aviel Magnezi)
