The US has lauded Egyptian President-elect Mohammed Morsi's pldege to honor the peace treaty with Israel.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney noted Morsi's promise to abide by Egypt's international commitments and expressed hope the country would maintain a prominent role in attaining peace, security and stability in the region. (Yitzhak Benhorin)
