Israeli implicates ex-girlfriend in false Russia terror plot

Man decides to get back at ex-girlfriend by sending Russia police terror alert from her computer

The National Fraud Investigations Unit filed an indictment against a 24-year-old Hod Hasharon resident who tried to implicate his ex-girlfriend in a terror plot in Russia.

According to the indictment, the defendant, who was trying to get back at his girlfriend after she broke up with him, accessed her computer and used it to alert police in her native city of Omsk that a terrorist attack was about to take place at the city's airport.

"The Omsk airport is about to suffer a terror attack. There will be a terrorist on one of the planes. You must stop this man as soon as possible," the message said.

The woman was subsequently taken in for questioning for giving out a false alert. Russian police eventually traced the defendant in Israel with the help of Israeli computer fraud investigators and local Interpol forces.

According to the indictment, the defendant plotted the scheme as a way to take revenge on his girlfriend after she broke off the relationship and told him she was seeing someone else.
