Islamist Mohamed Morsi took the oath of office Saturday court as Egypt's first freely president, succeeding Hosni Mubarak who was ousted 16 months ago.
"I swear in the name of the great allah that I will safeguard the republic, respect the constitution and the law, protect the interests of the people and preserve the homeland's independence," the Muslim Brotherhood member said recited during the ceremony. (Roi Kais)
