Ministerial committee approves purchase of military training jets

A ministerial committee approved on Monday a Defense Ministry deal for the purchase of 30 Italian military training jets. Italy, in exchange, will buy $1 billion worth of Israeli defense equipment.

M-346 jets are manufactured by Italy's Alenia Aermacchi company. The aircraft will replace American Skyhawks, which the Israeli Air Force has used for the past 40 years. (Yoav Zitun)
