Israel offers Bulgaria help in extinguishing massive fire

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has spoken with his Bulgarian counterpart and has offered to send aid to the eastern European country, whose emergency services are making efforts to extinguish a massive forest fire raging near the capital, Sofia.

The Foreign Ministry has decided to put two firefighting planes on standby in case the offer is accepted. Lieberman noted that Bulgarian firefighters were a great help during the blaze that ravaged the northern Israeli Carmel Forest in 2010. (Attila Somfalvi)
