UTJ head: Universal draft activists want to re-educate haredi kids

United Torah Judaism Chairman Rabbi Israel Eichler said after Saturday night's universal draft rally in Tel Aviv that the organizers' animosity toward haredim proved that their goal wasn't security, but rather "re-education" or haredi children.

"The secular rule sees Talmud torah and yeshiva students as 'the real danger' to the state. All the plans to 'draft and integrate' them are intended to destroy haredi education and eliminate the Torah from Israel," he said. "Anyone who wants to ensure an equal share of the burden should retract (the call) for compulsory military draft. (Kobi Nahshoni)
