El Al flight LY623 which was scheduled to depart for Saint Petersburg at 6:15 pm, and flight LY624, which was set to make the trip from the Russian city to Tel Aviv at 11:05 pm were cancelled due to a dispute between the airline and a representative of the pilot union.
The airline said that the union leader decided to launch a strike, barring some pilots from doing their job. The representative denied the charge, saying that the airline decided to cancel an understaffed flight instead of asking the union to send in additional crew members. (Shahar Chai)
