Islamic cleric charged in Norway with web threat

A Norwegian prosecutor has filed charges against an Islamist cleric for encouraging supporters to avenge his imprisonment for making death threats.

Najmaddin Faraj Ahmad, also known as Mullah Krekar, was sentenced in April to five years in jail for making death threats against Norwegian officials for a 2005 decision to deport him. He was also convicted for threatening three Kurdish immigrants he said had insulted Islam. (AP)
