Israeli appointed as chief legal adviser to UNSC counter terrorism group

Israeli jurist David Scharia has been appointed to serve as the criminal justice coordinator and senior legal adviser of the Counter Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), UN Security Council’s counter terrorism body.
Scharia, 43, will oversee the group’s team of international legal experts on counter terrorism and will be charged with formulating the Security Council’s legal policies on counter terrorism, implementing Security Council resolutions on combating terror and facilitating technical assistance to help UN members build their counter terror abilities.
