PM's target for haredi draft: 6,000 per year

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the guidelines for drafting haredim compiled by the Plesner Committee and offered an alternative: 6,000 haredim drafted each year by 2016.

Netanyahu's proposal would give haredim an exemption from military service until age 26, instead of the current 28. The Plesner Committee lowered the cut-off for exemption to 22. (Attila Somfalvi)
