An Iraqi spokesman says 12 security forces have been killed and an army helicopter downed in two days of fierce clashes with militants in the country's northeast.
Diyala provincial spokesman Salih Ebressim Khalil said one soldier was killed and another wounded on Thursday when al-Qaida in Iraq insurgents shot at an army helicopter and forced it to make an emergency landing. (AP)
