Orange subscribers, iPhone users to be excluded from emergency drill

Millions of cell phone users are expected to receive text messages from Home Front Command in the coming days as part of an attempt to test a service developed to alert Israelis in a time of a national emergency.

The roughly 1.5 million Orange Partner subscribers are to be excluded from the drill due to the service provider's refusal to take part. The company reportedly demanded the Defense Ministry to provide an assurance that it won't be sued by users. Apple iPhone users won't be part of the test either due to the gadget's incompatibility with the alert system. (Yoav Zitun)
