Opposition leader Shaul Mofaz has spoken with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and conveyed a message of peace on the occasion of the Eid ul-Fitr holiday, which concludes the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
"In a time of change and regional uncertainty, it is our duty to give hope to both nations," he said. "The deadlocked peace process serves the interests of extremists on both sides, and not the wishes of the Palestinian and Israeli majorities." Mofaz said that the time has come to "renew the talks and resolve the disagreements." The two decided to schedule a meeting soon. (Attila Somfalvi)
