Trajtenberg comes out against higher defense budget

None

Professor Manuel Trajtenberg published a statement against the increase of the defense budget. "The truth must be said," Trajtenberg wrote, "the State of Israel cannot afford a defense budget of over NIS 60 billion ($15 billion), as the defense system requires, and can no longer ignore pressing social needs."

Regarding the Iranian threat, Trajtenberg – who was appointed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to offer a solution for the 2011 social protest – wrote that "the biggest investments in this context are behind us, since the Iranian issue can't be the main incentive for a budget increase in the next few years."
