South African ambassador summoned to Foreign Ministry

The Ambassador of South Africa in Israel will be summoned Thursday to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem after South Africa announced a measure requiring special labeling for goods emanating from Israeli settlements. The move which has been under consideration since May was adopted by the government.
The ministry stated that the measure "is without precedent, as no such measure has ever been adopted in South Africa or in any other country: It constitutes therefore a blatant discrimination based on national and political distinction." (Attila Somfalvi)
