In an attempt to ease the recent tension between Israel and the US over a possible strike on Iran, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who met with the US Army's vice chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Thursday, decided it would be a good idea to make light of the admiral's uniform. Barak, who was surprised when Admiral James Winnefeld arrived at their meeting with the traditional US military uniform, did not hesitate to mention it to him. Related stories: Top US military official visits Israel Dempsey: I don't want to be complicit in Israeli strike "Wow, I can’t believe you came here with your uniform," Barak said to the admiral, to which he responded: "It is Navy Day, so I should be in my navy whites." Barak then said: "White is better, it's more photogenic." Winnefeld, who is in Israel for a working visit, has been holding a series of meetings with his IDF and defense establishment counterparts on Israeli security and defense issues. The senior officer is the guest of his counterpart Brigadier General Yair Naveh. Last week, General Dempsey reiterated his stance that the IDF cannot stop Iran's nuclear program, Dempsey added, "I don't want to be complicit if they (Israel) choose to do it." Earlier on Thursday, US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro said to local government officials that Israel and the US have a joint strategy to prevent Iran from becoming nuclear, and noted that "all option are on the table," including the military option.
