Senator: Democrats' Jerusalem omission a 'mistake'

One of President Barack Obama's top allies says Democrats made a mistake when they omitted from the party platform a reference to Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
New York Sen. Chuck Schumer told The Associated Press on Thursday that the omission was not an effort to downplay the importance of Israel in the Democrats' foreign policy. He said that once told of the oversight, Obama directly ordered that the sentence be restored. (AP)
