Malaysia summons German envoy over rights funding

None

Malaysian authorities have summoned the German ambassador to explain why his country provided funds for a project linked to a Kuala Lumpur-based human rights group.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman says the funding could be "seen as interference in the domestic affairs of a sovereign state" because the Malaysian government considers rights group Suaram to be politically biased. (Reuters)
