Panet's management filed a police complaint and an investigation has been launched.

Panet said, "The website and newspaper have been around for years, and this is the fist time our building has been targeted. The management is not involved in any dispute.

"We received phone calls from many people who heard about the despicable act. This hurts the entire Arab sector, but it will not deter us. We fear God alone."

Tayibe residents said that three months ago leaflets that slandered the website and newspaper were distributed in the city. "The leaflets included lies that no one believed," one resident said.

Founded a decade ago, Panet is one of the most popular Arabic-language websites in Israel.
