Quake shakes southern Mexico

An earthquake shook parts of southern Mexico on Saturday, causing buildings to sway gently in the capital but causing no immediate reports of damage.

 

The US Geological Survey said the quake struck at 7:30 a.m. (8:30 EDT; 1230 GMT) with a magnitude of 5.4. It was centered about 16 miles (25 kilometers) north of Pinotepa Nacional, a city near the Pacific Coast, and about 210 miles (340 kilometers) south-southeast of Mexico City. (AP)
