Egypt tells Hamas: No Free Trade Zone with Gaza

Egypt has officially told the Hamas led government in Gaza that it would not establish a Free Trade Zone between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, the al-Quds al-Arabi newspaper reported.

Official Palestinian sources told the newspaper the Egypt was worried that Israel would take advantage of the Free Trade Zone to cut all economic support from the Gaza Strip and would then transfer responsibility to Egypt. (Elior Levy)
