Former Syrian PM: Assad refused any dialogue with opposition

Former Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab, who defected from President Bashar Assad's regime, told Al-Arabiya about his attempts to end the fighting in his country. According to Hijab, after the latest attack on a national security building, in which several Syrian government officials were killed, he and members of the ruling Baath party met with Assad to discuss the conflict.

Hijab claimed that the embattled president refused any type of dialogue with the opposition. He further said that Assad used lethal weapons against the Syrian people in an unprecedented manner, and speculated that the leader is set to use chemical weapon against the rebels soon. (Roi Kais)
