US praises Georgian democratic election
The United States Tuesday praised Georgia for an election that was a "landmark" after the victory of the opposition to President Mikheil Saakashvili.
"The Georgians have set an example for the region and the world by organizing an open campaign in freely expressing their democratic rights, and emphasizing their commitment to a peaceful transition," said the spokesman for the White House Jay Carney. (AFP)
