Elections costs to reach NIS 500 million; deficit skyrockets

The upcoming elections, expected to take place in the next three months, will cost Israel approximately NIS 500 million. The operation of polling stations is estimated to cost some NIS 230 million while the cost of party campaigns, funded by the government, will reach NIS 180 million.

 

Meanwhile, Israel's budget deficit currently rates highest since March 2010. In 2012 the deficit stood at NIS 19 billion, compared to NIS 10 billion between January and September of 2011. (Avital Lahav)
