Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner became the first man to break the sound barrier in free fall on Sunday, after jumping from a capsule at over 28,000 feet in the New Mexico sky.
Baumgartner, 43, broke the sound barrier after four minutes and 19 seconds of free fall, and was then able to open his parachute. He reached a maximum speed of over 680 mph, Red Bull's mission spokeswoman Sarah Anderson said. (AFP)
