Over the weekend, Segev started having difficulty breathing and suffered chest pains. Her partner immediately took her to a local hospital. At first a slight improvement was noted in her condition, but several hours later her condition drastically deteriorated. She passed away a day after being admitted to the hospital.

Initially, the medical team who treated Segev assumed she suffered from a severe allergy attack; however, they now believe she had an unknown congenital heart defect, and had died due to a cardiac arrest.

Hardoon notified her family in Israel, who said she was an active and healthy young girl, with no particular medical problems.

The complex arrangements pretaining to have the body flown to Israel are currently being handled by the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi, the General Consulate in Mumbai, and the Foreign Ministry.

The body is expected to leave the Andaman Islands for Mumbai on Monday; from there it will be flwon to Israel. Segev's partner Hardoon will accompany her coffin.
