Prosecution: Gov't yet to decide on Sudanese migrants' detention

None

The State Prosecutor's Office has rejected a petition filed against Interior Minister Eli Yishai's decision to detain the 15,000 Sudanese asylum seekers who are currently in Israel, saying that the decision has yet to be approved by the government.

"So far, no order has been issued to detain the infiltrators from Sudan," the prosecution said. "If such an order is issued in the future, it will be officially released by the (Immigration and Population) Authority thirty days before it takes effect." (Omri Efraim and Aviel Magnezi)
