UN chief welcomes Syria cease-fire announcements

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is welcoming the announcements of a temporary cease-fire in Syria for this weekend's Muslim holiday and is urging all countries and groups with influence to pressure all parties to stop the violence.

Ban's spokesman Martin Nesirky said the world is watching to see if the guns fall silent on Friday morning. (AP)
