Palestinian source: Peres warned Abbas against appealing UN

London-based Arabic-labguage newspaper Al-Hayat has quoted a Palestinian source as saying that during a phone conversation two days ago, President Shimon Peres warned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas against appealing the United Nations requesting a status upgrade.

According to the source, Peres told Abbas the American Congress may impose sanctions on the Palestinian Authority following such an appeal. (Elior Levy)
