Meretz Chairwoman Zahava Gal-On urged Israel to immediately open negotiations with Hamas in order to put an end to the fighting in Gaza. Gal-On said the Egyptian prime minister's visit to Gaza should serve as a signal to stop fighting and negotiate with Hamas in order to reach a long-term ceasefire.
"While negotiations for a long-term cease fire are carried out, Hamas will not fire and will guarantee to halt further ammunition. Israel will consider easing the blockade over Gaza, allow goods to be transported at the border crossing and assess the option to hire Palestinian workers in Israel," Gal-On added. (Roi Mandel)
