Pilot program for biometric database to begin in January 2013
The pilot program for the biometric database will begin in January 2013, the Knesset determined today.
After three years of legal battling, the decision to begin finally arrived. Citizens who volunteered for the pilot program, which will go on for two years, will be able to give both their fingerprints and pictures of their faces to a government database in return for a 'smart' ID card.
