US: Palestinian UN bid - a mistake
United States officials have repeatedly said Wednesday that their country will object the Palestinian UN bid to upgrade its status to that of a non-member state. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said: "We object this move, and consider it a mistake. Nothing's going to change our decision, and we have requested the Palestinians to reconsider their moves."
"Don't be mistaken, this move will not bring about the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel," she added. (AFP)
